About

During a walk through Lublin's Downtown towards the former town of Wieniawa, we will learn the history of Jewish families who lived there. We will learn where the premiere of the film "Dybbuk" took place and where Chaim Nachman Bialik, the father of modern Hebrew poetry, gave his lecture in Lublin. We will hear the history of the Club of Intellectuals, where Jewish lawyers, engineers and doctors used to meet to play music and bridge, and where Symcha Trachter, among others, exhibited his paintings. We will learn how poet Jakub Glatsztejn remembered his youthful walks in the town park.  We will also see places connected with the tragic fate of Jews during World War II: the building where the headquarters of the criminal Operation Reinhardt were located, and the Jewish cemetery in Wieniawa, which was razed to the ground during the German occupation and where a football field was built on part of it.
